Doing Business during the Time of Covid

Well, here we are in late November, and still in the throes of the Covid-19 pandemic. It has changed all our lives over the last 8 months, and for some of us life has changed drastically.

We closed for 8 weeks and then were able to reopen on an appointment only basis for a month, and then as the spread flattened, businesses like ours, were allowed to reopen, which we did on a limited basis, not knowing whether or not it would ever be the same again.

We have been amazed at the enthusiasm from our customers and consignors at our being open again for business. While it is not business as usual, we are so very grateful for the wonderful and encouraging support our consignors and customers have given us. It seems during this time the nesting instinct in all of us is strong and we are looking at ways to make our nests even more inviting and comfortable during this difficult time with changes and new purchases, and we are happy that we can help you with that.

We are also thrilled that the wonderful BC film industry is back in full swing. They are one of the backbones of the BC economy and we are pleased to be there for them as well. The Set Decorators are absolutely amazing people to deal with, always working on very crazy deadlines, and we are so pleased we can help make their lives a little easier with the items they need asap ready for pickup in the store. Thank you to all of you. We so appreciate the business you give us.

We would also like to give a very big and loud shout out to our amazing and supportive staff. Carly has now returned from mat leave to head up the team of Catherine, Melissa and Michael. Thank you all for being there for Tina and myself, and CC. We could not do it without you.

Please be assured that even though it’s different, our commitment to you is unwavering. We have all safety protocols in place with frequent sanitizing of surfaces, and of course a mask mandate and only 10 people allowed in the store at one time. If you forget your mask, we always have one for you, so no reason not to come in and see us.

We would also like to urge everyone to consider supporting local, small businesses and makers this Holiday Season. It has been very difficult year for small businesses and buying and shopping local means you help someone pay their rent or mortgage, their kids play hockey or learn an instrument, put money back into our local economy and generally contribute to the economic health of our communities.

Be well and stay safe!
